Program Description:

3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Legal & Insurance Panel - Our panel of experts will speak on a variety of topics.  Q & A to follow.

Fair Housing Act - Chas Ryan, Esq.- Pilicy & Ryan, P.C.

Are your board members aware of how to avoid violating this law?  Emotional support pets?  Allowing children to play? Access to parking, etc.?  We will identify key problems  and how to properly address them in order to avoid legal action against the association.

Directors and Officers Insurance - Frank Pingelski - Tooher-Ferraris Insurance Group

Does your current policy offer adequate coverage so that board members can be protected from potential lawsuits?  We will discuss the important items to be included in a solid D&O policy.

55+ Association Requirements - Ron Barba, Esq. - Bender, Anderson & Barba, P.C.

Is your association in compliance with the requirements of a  55+ community? If your association fails to conduct a census and to market the community as designed for active adults, then it could lose its protected status and no longer validly prohibit children.  Learn what you need to do to secure your 55+ status.

Notice and Hearings - Greg McCracken, Esq. - Jacobs, Walker, Rice & Barry, LLC

Do rules violations occur in your community?  Are you following proper legal procedure in order to be able to collect any fines and/or enforce rules?  Many associations are not aware that they must adhere to the requirements set forth in the Common Interest Ownership Act (CIOA) for the purposes of rules violations.  Be certain you have procedures that work.

Also, got legal questions?

Running a community association has many legal twists and turns. Our experts will answer questions that will help keep you out of any tangles.  Don't miss the opportunity to ask your questions!

5:00 pm - 7:00 pm - Join us for Spring Fling Networking Party!

Take a well-earned break and join us for food, fun and festivities!   Meet board members from neighboring communities, managers and business partners.  Share your success stories.   Meet others who face similar community challenges.

CAI Suitcasing Policy

CAI has a no-tolerance policy regarding “suitcasing,” which describes the practice by non-exhibiting/sponsoring companies or individuals of soliciting sales or sales leads in the conference/session facility, on the expo floor, in the aisles or lobbies and/or representing their services or soliciting conference participants for conflicting social activities. Non-exhibiting suppliers participating in the conference as attendees are prohibited from soliciting business on the expo floor, in or after sessions or in the conference facility. Violators of these policies will be ejected from the show and charged the single booth rate or tabletop display rate, which must be paid prior to registering as an attendee, exhibitor or sponsor at any future CAI event.
